Day12 – French Riviera, city of Nice

After a much needed sleep in we put on our walking shoes and went and explored the Roman ruins perched on the top of hill. This included more steps which by now we are getting used to. From the top we had an amazing panoramic view of the French coast.

After lunch the sun and beach was calling our names so we found a place on the stones and caught some sun and soaked in some vitamin D.

next mission was to hunt out some Pizza for tea. Apparently Nice has the best Pizza around due to the Italian influence and the French love of fresh ingredients. Hunting tea was awesome as we wandered the narrow side streets of Nice, with many markets, shops and food places we finally settled on a place and got some Pizza… very yummy, fresh, and simple/clean flavours, all Italian style with the thin crust. And dessert was fantastic – Gelato!!!! Ice-cream in more flavours than one can fathom and oh so good. Mmm Gelato, its like ice-cream but the flavour is distinct. Flavours included Tiramisu, Cappuccino, Pistachio, Chocolate, Mango, Vanilla, Coconut, Caramello, Yoghurt, various Berry mixtures, Pineapple, Banana, Mascarpone even Kiwi (it seems to be what the Europeans call Kiwifruit). Kath’s fetish for scarfs was fulfilled due to the great find and wonderful invention of the Thai silk scarf during our walk down the Nice alleyways.
