DAY 79-81 - Cardiff
Cardiff - the capital city of Wales
We said goodbye to Gloucester, Jonny and the rain, boarded the train and made our way to Cardiff. Unfortunately the rain followed us so we took a taxi to our accomodation.
We found Cardiff to be the city of shopping malls. When asking people what there was to see in Cardiff the general answer was go to the St Davids Mall. We found this to be one of like five malls that made up the centre of Cardiff. We decided to take the advice given and set out to conquer the shops. I'll have you know, this was no easy task.
By the time mid afternoon arrived we had tired feet and the call was made that it was time for a coffee. With permission from Abby we enjoyed a coffee from Starbucks. We have found that although Starbucks coffee is more expensive generally they do have better coffee.
After taking time to contact family and friends back home, we ventured back to the centre of town. Sick of shops we decided to fill in the rainy day by going to see The A-Team. Although this movie didn't have the same thinking component as Inception, it was still pretty good. Jess seemed to enjoy it better but I think that was mainly due to the fact she didn't have a massimmo coffee before hand, so was slightly more "relaxed"
We left the cinema about the same time the rain decided to leave so we continued to have a look around Cardiff and went and had a look at the Castle. One thing I still can't get over is the price people will charge to go see an old building, the Cardiff Castle was no exception. Upon seeing the price of entry we decided that surely the castle wasn't going to be any more special than the castles we had already seen so instead of going inside we looked at the tourist book that had some very nice pictures and gave us a very good overview of the castle. The castle shop also gave us the opportunity to see Welsh souvineers including the Welsh Love Spoon which in the day, used to be given as a sign of love and promise either at the time of engagement or before, if the couple were too young to be engaged.
Abby also wakes up with a sore jaw, finding it difficult to eat she briefly considers a liquid diet however she discards this idea quickly as food is way to good. She will put up with the pain and looking slightly rediculous flattening all her food to fit in her mouth... to be to continued.
